Mette Biglin

Mette Biglin, local photographer,  was born in Denmark and has traveled not only throughout Europe but also in parts of Asia. She purchased her first professional camera at the age of 21 in Hong Kong and the passion for photography began its course.

In 1999 Mette travel took her to The Florida Keys, where she lived for 11 years. Mette was hooked on the Keys life style and the beautiful scenery that only Florida can offer. In 2004, Mette began working with a great team of photographers, McLaughlin Photo and Video where she and her team won the prestigious award, Best of Weddings by The Knot Wedding Magazine for three consecutive years. During this time, Mette specialized in weddings, but enjoyed taking family photos and real estate photos as well. After having children, Mette and her husband decided it was time to leave The Florida Keys.

Mette launched Biglin Photography when she and her family moved to Stuart in 2010. They decided on the Treasure Coast as it has so much to offer with the beautiful beaches, the scenic trails of our nature preserve, and let’s not forget the charming historical buildings. The area reminds Mette of her European roots and provides a great variety of photography options.

In 2012 Biglin Photography added a drone, Mette’s husband Bill joined the business and Biglin Photography started to offer drone video and drone photography.  When shooting real estate photos, Biglin Photography was now able to capture the buildings and grounds from the air as well as the ground. As rules and regulations were tightened within the drone industry Bill made sure to have all the proper certifications and he now holds the title as FAA certified drone operator.

In an effort to stay ahead of the competition Biglin Photography offers 3D Virtual Tours of houses and yachts. Already being in the real estate photography industry, it was a logical step to take the service to the next level – or dimension. Biglin Photography is a Matterport partner and can be found as recommended photographer on the Matterport website. The 3D Matterport Virtual Tour platform was added to Biglin Photography as a product in 2016.

As a natural progression Biglin Photography now also offers short promotional videos. These can be a combination of drone video in 4K, traditional HD video and 3D imaging. The possibilities are endless for the creative mind.

When Mette is not behind the camera she still enjoys traveling and boating with her family. Mette has an energetic dog that needs exercise before any work can be done. Her lazy cat keeps her company throughout the day as she is editing photos, preparing contracts or organizing photography equipment for photo shoots.

As a natural progression Biglin Photography now also offers roof reports and 3D models of exterior models. Actual 3D table top models can be ordered through Biglin Photography as well. The possibilities are endless for the creative mind.

When Mette is not behind the camera she still enjoys traveling and boating with her family. Mette has an energetic dog that needs exercise before any work can be done. Mette keeps a “balanced” schedule to always have room for one more shoot. Days at the office are spent editing photos, preparing contracts or organizing photography equipment for new photo shoots.

Mette and Bill have run a number of adventure races. Mette says; “there is something to be said about diving into a construction dumpster filled with ice and water, only to realize you must dive under the barbwire to be allowed to get out at the other end”. Mette has always been a dare devil, but will just as often embrace her artistic side, as when she is setting up the shot of the brides dress hanging in the window before the ceremony. Mette is proud to say she is one of the fortunate few who get paid to do what they love.

Mette’s Photography Equipment
Mette takes photos with Nikon cameras. When asked why she chose Nikon over Canon, her only response is: “That is what I’m comfortable with. I started out shooting Canon when I was about 15, but changed to Nikon later on. I don’t think that Nikon is superior to Canon or vice versa, in fact I think one can make amazing images with a disposable camera or with a phone. It’s the eye and the heart of the photographer that makes a compelling image…and of course some technical proficiency helps as well.” Mette Biglin, photographer.
